Description
The “Fantasias for Piano” Op. 116 are the first of the four collections of late piano pieces ~(Opera 116-119) which Johannes Brahms composed – or at least completed – and had published in 1892 and 1893. A span of twelve years separates the publication of the “Fantasias” and that of Brahms’ last piano pieces published prior to this series, the “Zwei Rhapsodien” Op. 79, issued in 1880.
