Description

Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns (9 October 1835 – 16 December 1921) was a French composer, organist, conductor, and pianist of the Romantic era.

The piano music of Saint-Saëns, while not as deep or as challenging as that of some of his contemporaries, occupies the stylistic ground between Liszt and Ravel. Although Saint-Saëns was considered old-fashioned in later life, he explored many new forms and reinvigorated some older ones. His compositional approach was inspired by French classicism, which makes him an important forerunner of the neoclassicism of Ravel and others.

Here we have the collection of his piano works by Edition Peters, a book that falls in line with the characteristics most commonly associated with Saint-Saëns’s musical style. A book no pianist should go without.
